Earlier this year, rumours emerged that Dell could come with a 7-inch Android tablet after the 5-inch Streak and pictures of the so called Looking Glass device leaked. Now again, Michael Dell himself made clear signs that this device will be available soon. As the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, Dell “plans to offer a tablet with a seven-inch screen, the Dell chief executive said at an Oracle Corp. conference“.

Reuters and Getty provided photos of that device (see Reuters here) Dell took out of his pocket and it looks exactly like the Looking Glass:

The specifications of the Dell Looking Glass had also been leaked. At that time it was meant to have the following numbers:

For me the Streak was a MID, a Mobile Internet Device, not a tablet, because it’s just the size of a bigger smartphone.

But with the 7-inch Android tablet, Dell get’s closer to the real tablet size.

Especially interesting with Dell ist the fact that it is a mayor company, with warranty and service offers, with an attractive pricing and with enough capital and manpower to do some serious tweaks to the performance of their devices. Have you seen how much RAM they could pack into this device? 4GB! Well engineered, this could make the Looking Glass set new terms of snappiness! Cmon Michael Dell – give us more news!
